How to Make Pixelated Images for Characters

Sometimes, we want to make some effects special. In this tutorial, I'd like to introduce an unusual effect, which is pixelated image for characters. And it is pretty simple to get this result.

The following is the effect. It is not common image, isn't it? But this special one can attract your attention and leave you a deep impression.

The first thing you want to do is open the picture. Here, I choose an extracted picture. Copy it and click Mosaic from "Filters > Stylize > Mosaic".

Change the radius to 4.

Then, copy the second layer and choose "Filters > Stylize > Detect edge".

Adjust it's Blending to Color Burn.

The result is not what I want. I'd like to show the eyes out, so I create a Mask and choose Brush Tool to erase the eyes and face. It is pretty now.
