Sometimes, we need to quickly separate an image of tree from background. In this tutorial, I’ll introduce a way to achieve acceptable results in several steps. If you wanna get a high quality result, it is better to use complex classical method.

Now, let’s get started.

Open a picture and then add a new white layer.

If your picture is blurred a little, it’s better to apply “Filters>Sharpen>Sharpen”. If not, move to this step: Apply “Select > Edit Selection as Mask” or press Hot key Q to separate tree from the background.

Next, select Brush Tool to fill in the area you want to extract.

If you made wrong line, you can remove it with Eraser Tool. Look, this is what I wanna extract.

Then, press Q again and Delete key, the image comes out.

Since the image is not looks natural, we’ll modify it with Eraser Tool. Set the parameters as below.

Slowly and carefully erase the edge of tree.

Finally, select “Adjust > Selective Color” to adjust the Cyan color on the tree.

Look, the tree comes out. Only need simple operation but natural result. Hope you can this tutorial is useful for you.
